It is a Twin! Again!

Toward the end of 2015, one of our moms was anxiously awaiting the delivery of her twin babies. At the same time when the Center for Medical Progress released another video exposing Planned Parenthood’s complete disregard for the life of not just one, but two babies while pushing their parts around a pie dish – we were celebrating the ultrasound picture of two precious lives we couldn’t wait to be a part of. Many of you waited along with us.

Another mom came to Good Counsel expecting twins a short time after. Shauna was understandably anxious about their upcoming birth – but on December 29th – Shauna delivered her babies, naturally, for which there should be some kind of award!

Nathaniel and Immanuel were on the small side at just 4 pounds, 9 ounces, and 4 pounds, 4 ounces, respectively. Immanuel required a short stay in the NICU due to the need for a feeding tube and Shauna spent as much time as she could with him, holding him, and comforting him. Shauna believes, and it is most undoubtedly true, that her nurturing was a critical element to his quick progression out of the NICU and into her room with his “big” brother.

Shauna expressed her fear of breaking her babies because they were so tiny. The first time she tried to change the baby’s clothes was a long and meticulous process, but she smiles at the memory now. In fact, the babies were so small, the car seats we had for them had to be replaced! They were only safety rated for 5 pounds and up! The Good Counsel staff quickly responded by securing two, new "special" car seats for two very special gifts from God.

Today, Shauna and the babies are doing well. Mom is breastfeeding both babies and is finally getting back to feeling normal. Both boys are eating well and gaining weight and Shauna is finally getting some much-needed sleep! Just the other day she took her first outing out of the home, leaving her precious boys with the childcare staff at the home while she visited the Social Services office to attend to some important tasks. The babies were in loving hands, and Shauna was pleased when she returned, secure in knowing that Good Counsel will be there for her until she’s ready to be on her own.

Thank you for your ongoing prayerful and financial support of moms like Shauna and babies like Nathanial and Immanuel.
