Baby girl Le'ani arrived on Monday, March 11, 2017. Her arrival marks an important milestone as she is the 1,050th baby born into the Good Counsel family.
Le'ani was born at 9:36 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 19 1/2 inches long. Her mom, Amanda, expressed how grateful she was to have Staten Island House Manager, Omayra Rivera, with her for the labor and delivery. Good Counsel mothers are never alone in their journey. They are continually surrounded by love and support while they carry their child and when the time comes to give birth. Afterwards, the new mothers and their babies stay sometimes for up to a year at Good Counsel to make sure that when they leave, they are well prepared, strong, and confident for what comes next.
Le'ani arrived on the heels of a baby boom for Good Counsel. Each new life reignites hope and zeal for the mission and ministry of helping homeless, pregnant mothers in need.
Le'ani and all of the babies born at Good Counsel have been saved because of your faithful, prayerful support and financial generosity. Because of you, we began 2017 with hope that our doors will remain open to any homeless, pregnant mother. We remain grateful and blessed to serve mothers in great need. But, it all starts with love. From a warm welcome when a mother first arrives to the tender, loving care that is poured over her as she takes the necessary steps to secure a stable, productive, and successful life outside of Good Counsel for herself and for her family.
Along with celebrating 1,050 (and counting!) babies, we also celebrate our ability to provide countless nights of shelter, thousands of Life Skills classes, and hundreds of hours counseling and guiding each mother as she journeys from despair to hope. We ask for your continued prayers for our dedicated staff and volunteers in 2017.
Feel free to leave a note of encouragement or prayer in the comments below for Le'ani and her mom, Amanda.
God is great!
