It’s been an exciting time at Good Counsel over the last couple of months because it’s graduation season!  Whether it is completing a GED, graduating from high school, or obtaining a specialized certification, the educational success of a Good Counsel mom has far-reaching impact.  Because of you, moms at Good Counsel can work toward generational success.  They become role models for their children and help to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

At the beginning of June, Vanetta obtained her Certified Nurses Aid certification. The CNA certification allows her to begin the search for a stable, steady job in the healthcare field.  Vanetta, whose baby is due on July 25, 2019, studied hard and experienced what happens when hard work pays off.  While she waits for her due date, Vanetta will be volunteering in Hospice Care to see if that is the field she’d like to pursue after her bonding time is over.  Vanetta said, “I am very much thankful for the opportunity that was given to me, to make a better life for my daughter and me.”

You may already be acquainted with Angela, who is now a high school graduate with honors & multiple awards.  Angela has accomplished so much in the last two years and her case manager, Omayra, has been by her side every step of the way.  Angela juggled motherhood, high school, and a job. She earned outstanding grades, especially excelling in science, and even started a new club at her school for students who are newcomers to the United States.

Moms like Angela and Vanetta and all of the others who work so hard to further their education while residing at Good Counsel succeed because of your prayerful and financial support! Your gift not only impacts mothers today but supports them far into the future.  The chances of their children walking across the platform in cap and gown have exponentially increased.
