Loyal readers of the Good Counsel Blog will already know Ariana and her mom, Molly. For those of you who don’t, this dynamic duo successfully completed the program at Good Counsel Staten Island and regularly keep in touch with us.
In 2009, Molly arrived at the front door of our home on Staten Island on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in February. She was 26 years old and 7 months pregnant. Like so many of our moms, Molly had been in an abusive relationship with her child’s father and he was demanding that she have an abortion. Fearful for the safety of both herself and her unborn child, she fled to her parents’ home. Things worked for a while there, but then Molly found herself in need of somewhere else to live – we gladly opened the door and welcomed her into the Good Counsel family.
The rest, as they say, is history. We have shared in Molly’s excitement as she continues to succeed in life, and we celebrate Ariana’s milestones and achievements like her first day of kindergarten and when she was named a Superhero!
On May 6th, Ariana celebrated her 7th birthday. Molly shared some beautiful reflections about her daughter that day and we wanted to share them with you because if not for you, the friends and supporters of Good Counsel, this success story would not have been possible.

Keep up the great work Ariana and Molly – we can’t wait to see what you two do next!
